The VR Video Player is a VR app that allows the viewer to select their way through multiple 360 degree videos, providing a real-time, self directed experience. So far, videos and films in 360 have been cut to the editors or directors choice much like in traditional film practices, but this app gives license back to the viewer to create their own unique personal journey.
To showcase the functionality of the app, I recorded the UWE Orchestras latest performance at St.Georges in Bristol, performing the piece, ‘Magnificent Seven’ by Elmer Bernstien. Placing a camera in the crowd, by the conductor and in the orchestra itself gave maximum dimension to this particular use case.
Essentially a powerful curation tool, The VR Video Player can be applied to various environments beyond musical performances such as theatre, sports, hotel/building tours and training.
